On Saturday,Feb 11, 2012, a dozen FLC members departed in 3 vehicles on a pilgrimage. We drove a little over an hour to Plaisance to visit the Mother of the Redeemer Benedictine Monastery. Fr. Joseph greeted us and gave us a presentation on the history of the monastery which began a little over 10 years ago when he and Abbot James moved to SW Louisiana from their sister monastery in Arizona. After 3 years of praying and seeking the Lord’s Will through the intercession of His Mother, someone donated 20 acres, others donated funds and support for them to build the monastery campus.

Mount Athos 60 Minutes Presentation

Christmas of 2011 furnished me with an unexpected surprise when 60 Minutes of CBS featured Mount Athos. The first third of the night's show was about the Vatican Library, and the rest was about Mount Athos. I enjoyed it so that I watched it again tonight on the CBS website. Now even if you feel the media is filled with left wing bias you will find this show good. I have provided links here to Part 1 and Part 2 of the show, and the 60 Minutes Overtime featured only on the web.

ROME, APRIL 1, 2011 (Zenit.org).- According to the preacher of the Pontifical Household, the first consequence of a baptism in the Holy Spirit is an overwhelming desire to proclaim Christ.

Capuchin Father Raniero Cantalamessa said this at an international colloquium on baptism in the Spirit, held March 17-20 in Rome.

Man To Man Men's Conference

Had a nice wordy post here but it all crashed prior to save so being bummed a little this will be bare bones. The Man To Man Conference is set for Saturday April 30, 2011 in the Cajundome Convention Center from 8:30 to 4:30. Vince has already signed up. I'll be going with my son-in-law.

Early registration ends on April 10th and you need to do that for the Free Lunch. You can get more details at their website and register online.

Community Way of The Cross

Through the years we have been doing a Community Way of The Cross outdoors on the Saturdays of Lent. Today was the first one of the year and we had a nice turn out on a beautiful morning. This is not what I would really rather be doing on a Saturday morning which is why I'm thinking this will have to be one of my Lent "things" this year. My son-in-law ask me what I was doing for Lent and I was sad to say that there was no plan yet. It starts at 8:00 and is over in about 45 minutes so not to bad.
